set of 2 XL photographs
set of 2 XL photographs
London, United Kingdom: 1988. self-published; The Independent, 1988 (10), 30,5x40,5 cm [full sheet].
Two large original performance photographs of Leigh Bowery by Herbie Knott. In 1988 Bowery met D’Offay who was fascinated by him and this meeting resulted in a week-long ‘residency’ / ‘exhibition’ of Bowery at D’Offay’s gallery, where he literally exhibited himself, as every afternoon he improvised a performance in front of a one-way mirror in eclectic costumes, striking narcissistic poses against a soundtrack of the hustle and bustle from the streets. Kodak watermarked paper. Informational labels pasted on the versos, one photo additionally date-stamped ’19 sep 1991’. Excellent.
