BAGUETTE · A-POC [a piece of cloth]
Tokyo, Japan: Issey Miyake Inc, 2001. 23,5×59,5 cm [full spread]
Concept / Patent brochure
One of the original brochures presenting the radical project A-POC by Issey Miyake. The basic concept was that clothes are not a standard finished product but can be modified in relation to the buyer's tastes. In the "A-POC" shops tubular rolls of material would be presented, material that does not shred upon cutting and that, depending on the type of cut, assumes the form of a dress, a top, a sweater or even something else. Near Fine.

According to Yoshiyuki Miyamae [member of the original team that started A-POC]
A-POC is “A Piece of Cloth.” This is all about Mr. Miyake’s vision to put everything into one piece of cloth—this piece of cloth is limitless; it’s not just fashion. His vision was bigger than that, wider than that. A-POC is not a style, really; it’s more of a concept. That’s why it’s sometimes difficult to explain what it is.
