ALÉATOIRE JE NE SAIS QUOI

“an illustrated non-lecture on the phenomenology of my avant-garde aesthetics.”
“an illustrated non-lecture on the phenomenology of my avant-garde aesthetics.”
New York, United States: The Kitchen, 1980. 15,1×10,2 cm. Invitation card published in conjunction with one of the the last performances by Farina “before he moved to California to study computers at Stanford, with the goal of making them intuitive”. A scarce piece from a notoriously elusive artist. Interesting copy mailed to poet Alec Bernstein.

[Ref: As Time Goes By: A Speculative Viewing of Ralston Farina's Aléatoire je ne Sais Quoi, Quinn Veasman, 2021]. Very Good.

Ralston Farina’s performance practice went largely undocumented, verging on near obscurity due to his own apprehension towards documentation. Farina's work draws equally on the slapstick comedy of Ernie Kovacs and the phenomenologically informed philosophical investigations of Alfred Korzybski. [blankforms.org].
